The Quilters Paradise collection was designed years before the concept of Mix and Match quilting was released. What does Santa do the rest of the year? You will find out when you embroider this collection. We designed a different Santa Claus for every day of the month. Each Santa comes three different ways, a large applique Santa for the 6"x10" hoop, a smaller applique version for the 5"x7" hoop and a stitched version for the 5"x7" hoop. We have also included a corresponding banner for each month of the year for you to further embellish your projects. For this project we created an interchangeable wall hanging. It is actually a simple quilt background but instead of stitching the Santa's directly to the fabric we stitched them on separate pieces of fabric and then buttoned them onto the quilt background. This way you can use the same background and switch the Santa's as the seasons change. If you have never created applique before don't be afraid to try, there is a Home Decor tutorial located in the tutorials folder on the CD-Rom. Applique is one of the topics discussed in that tutorial. I take machines and refurbish them back to when they were like new. Heres what I do: Replace the needle threader if damaged. Replace feed gears. Replace camstacks. Replace or repair foot pedals. Repair the front dial (master selector) were the indicator mark moves to the right or left when you turn the dial. Repair the buttonhole assemble. Replace the drive belt if damaged. Replace the timing belt if damaged. Replace the bobbin-winding wheel. Adjust the pen swing so the needle doesnt come down and move the fabric when sewing. Adjust the feed dog height. Adjust the presser foot height. Adjust the feed system and the IDT (walking foot). Zero out the feed assembly so your patterns sew to the correct length and you get the proper amount of stitches. There are 4 design files used to create and join the 5 star sections completely in the hoop, so there is no additional sewing required for the hanging or the topper. If you choose to do the pillow, you would complete the entire pillow front in the hoop and then sew on the back. The design files come in 2 sizes, both for the 6×10 hoop (finished size 19 inches across) and the 7×12 hoop (finished size 22 inches across). The sections are stitched on batting and feature channel quilting that aligns for a chevron effect when the sections are joined with decorative stitching, as well as endearing accents-even eyelets for his boot laces! My favorite part was embellishing my new friend after the stitching was finished. I used yo-yos and bells and a whimsical fleece scarf, but you are limited only by your imagination.
